A man has died after a fire in a villa in Hjo municipality. Police have opened an investigation into gross arson.
Emergency services including police, rescue teams and an ambulance helicopter were called to the scene at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday. Heavy smoke was reported coming from the house.
The man was found lifeless during the firefighting efforts and was later pronounced dead. Relatives have been notified.
Police are classifying the case as gross arson to gain access to the full range of investigative tools, said duty officer Tony Uvebrant Olsson.
