Christian Lydeen, 50, was attacked by a seagull during a walk with his daughter in Jönköping last weekend. He fell and sustained a cracked rib along with injuries to his elbow and foot.
The incident occurred on Sunday a week ago near Munksjöparken. A seagull flew at Lydeen's daughter, prompting him to shout for her to run. The bird then turned on him.
– It comes like a torpedo from 10 meters up in the air and hits me in the chest and I am knocked down, says Christian Lydeen.
Lydeen struck the seagull with a PET bottle but fell when the bird dove again. He scraped his hand, elbow and twisted his foot while cracking a rib. He needed three nights to sleep properly afterward.
Seagull problems in Jönköping have increased this year according to several residents. The municipality states that the number of reports has not increased and that property owners bear responsibility in urban areas.
