A 28-year-old man was allegedly killed by his friend in a quarrel over sharing liquor near a lake in Kancheepuram district. The accused has been arrested.
Manikandan, from Koothrampakkam village, and Arulmani, 29, from Karai village, were friends who had been drinking together near a lake. An argument over sharing the liquor turned violent, and police said Arulmani pushed Manikandan into a slushy area and pressed his face into the mud, causing his death.
Passers-by discovered the body and alerted authorities. The body was sent to the Government General Hospital in Chengalpattu for a post-mortem examination.
Arulmani was arrested and remanded in judicial custody, according to police reports from the Kancheepuram district incident on July 5, 2026.
