Mexican forces detain Denis Ivziku, Hells Angels member wanted by Canada

Mexican naval forces arrested Denis Ivziku in Cancun. The suspect, identified as a leader in the Hells Angels Motorcycle Club, faces charges in Canada for drug and firearms trafficking.

The arrest took place in the municipality of Benito Juárez, Quintana Roo. Naval personnel, working with the Secretariat of Security and the Attorney General’s Office, carried out the warrant after sharing information with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

Denis Ivziku held a red Interpol notice and a valid extradition order for firearms possession, narcotics trafficking and human trafficking. Officials described him as a key generator of international violence and head of an organization involved in drug trafficking and transnational extortion.

The group operated behind the cover of a motorcycle club. Reports cited in the coverage link the Hells Angels Motorcycle Club to murders, methamphetamine production and drug distribution, based on earlier U.S. federal investigations.

After the arrest, the suspect was read his rights and handed over to prosecutors to determine his legal status.
