Mitski schedules intimate New Jersey album release show

Mitski has announced a special performance at Starland Ballroom in New Jersey to celebrate her upcoming eighth studio album. The show is set for February 28, 2026, one day after the album's release. Special guest Her New Knife will open the intimate event.

Mitski will perform at Starland Ballroom on February 28, 2026, marking the release of her eighth studio album, Nothing’s About to Happen to Me, which arrives via Dead Oceans on February 27, 2026. Tickets for the show are priced at $30 all-in, with presale starting on Wednesday, February 25 at 9:30 a.m. ET and general on-sale on Thursday, February 26 at 10 a.m. ET.

The announcement comes amid a deliberate rollout for the album, which Mitski began teasing in mid-January through cryptic Instagram posts. One clip shows her moving quietly through a kitchen, while another depicts her walking into a house, collapsing onto the floor, and whispering the album’s title. She later confirmed the February 27 release date with a minimalist video featuring numbers typed into a calculator: 22726.

According to press materials, the album centers on a reclusive woman in an unkempt house, exploring themes of isolation, deviance, and inner freedom. The lead single, “Where’s My Phone?”, sets an atmosphere with its fuzzed-out, anxious edge. Its music video, directed by Noel Paul and inspired by Shirley Jackson’s We Have Always Lived in the Castle, portrays Mitski as a paranoid protector in a gothic home.

The follow-up single, “I’ll Change for You”, contrasts as a ballad delving into vulnerability and post-breakup self-reproach. Mitski described it as a song about “being pathetic,” capturing irrational impulses that arise after loss.

In addition, Mitski has arranged “Tansy House Listening Events” at independent record stores around the world for fans to preview the album. She has also scheduled multi-night residencies in New York, Los Angeles, and Sydney.
