Two girls under 15 were seriously injured in a villa outside Alvesta on Saturday. The mother had warned social services about the father's behavior just days earlier.
Police were alerted shortly before 11 a.m. on Saturday to a villa in Alvesta municipality. Two girls were found there with life-threatening and serious injuries respectively. They are being treated at hospitals in Region Skåne.
The suspected perpetrator, a man in his 50s, was found dead near the villa. According to reports he is the children's father and shot his daughters. The incident is being investigated as attempted murder.
The mother had a meeting with social services last Monday and expressed concern for the children and the father's aggressive behavior. The divorce was finalized on Thursday. Prosecutor Charlotte Österlund says she is not aware of any prior warning signs.
Social services minister Camilla Waltersson Grönvall (M) says she is strongly affected and stresses the importance of using the new secrecy legislation from December 2025 for better information exchange between authorities.
