Motorhome boom requires national strategy says camping group

The number of motorhomes is rising sharply in Sweden. The organization Camping Halland wants a national strategy to address the shortage of parking spots.

New registrations of motorhomes rose 46 percent in 2025 compared with the previous year. Bo Andreasson, chair of Camping Halland, notes that parking spaces at the country’s campsites are insufficient.

– Already today we see that the area of conflict is increasing, he says.

The organization also points out that Germany passed one million registered motorhomes last year. According to Andreasson the Fehmarnbelt Tunnel, due to open in the early 2030s, is expected to bring even more motorhome tourists to Sweden.
