Netflix confirms 2026 release for K-drama The Wonderfools

Netflix has announced that its upcoming superhero K-drama The Wonderfools will premiere in 2026. Starring Park Eun Bin and Cha Eun Woo, the series follows defective superhumans struggling to control their powers. Filming wrapped up in May 2025, with a first look now available.

The Wonderfools marks Netflix's latest venture into South Korean superhero storytelling. Written by Kang Eun Kyung, known for Gyeongseong Creature, and directed by Yoo In Shik of Extraordinary Attorney Woo fame, the series explores a world where super-powered individuals exist but face challenges with their abilities.

At the center is Eun Chae Ni, played by Park Eun Bin, who has gained acclaim for roles in hits like Extraordinary Attorney Woo, where she portrays Woo Young Woo—a character set to return in the show's second season—along with Castaway Diva, The King’s Affection, Do You Like Brahms?, Hot Stove League, and The Ghost Detective. Her co-lead, Lee Un Jeong, is portrayed by Cha Eun Woo, a member of the K-pop group Astro and an actor since 2014. This role represents his Netflix debut, following appearances in True Beauty, Rookie Historian Goo Hae Ryung, Island, and Wonderful World.

The ensemble cast includes Kim Hae Sook as Kim Jeon Bok from Strong Girl Namsoon, Choi Dae Hoon as Son Gyeong Un from One Dollar Lawyer, Im Sung Jae as Kang Ro Bin from Black Knight, and Son Hyun Joo as Ha Un Do from The Good Detective.

Production began on October 22, 2024, and concluded on May 22, 2025. The plot centers on 'defective superhumans' who possess abilities but cannot control them fully. While a specific premiere date within 2026 remains unannounced, the series is part of Netflix's broader 2026 slate for movies and series.

This project highlights the growing collaboration between Netflix and Korean talent, blending action with character-driven narratives about imperfection in a superhuman world.
