During a panel organized by Noticias RCN, RCN Radio and La República, authorities and business leaders from Norte de Santander highlighted infrastructure projects to strengthen trade with Venezuela.
Governor William Villamizar stated that the department is preparing to become a binational business center. “If we manage to improve the relationship with Venezuela, we will become the gateway for the country’s entrepreneurs,” he said.
María Carolina Ramírez of ProColombia and Víctor Manuel Méndez of the Cámara Colombo Venezolana agreed on opportunities in sectors such as agro-foods, footwear and 4.0 technologies. Olger López mentioned works including the Center for Events, Exhibitions and Innovation and the Tren del Catatumbo.
Norte de Santander contributes 1.6% of the national GDP with an economy of 27 trillion pesos. The panelists noted that improvements in logistics and infrastructure will be key to reducing costs and attracting investment.
