The Ontario Reign have added Mike Haviland as an assistant coach. Haviland, 58, joins after two seasons as an assistant with the Columbus Blue Jackets in the NHL.
Haviland brings more than 20 years of coaching experience to the team. Before his time with the Blue Jackets, he worked as associate coach with their AHL affiliate, the Cleveland Monsters, from 2022 to 2024.
Earlier in his career, Haviland served as head coach for the Norfolk Admirals from 2005 to 2007, the Rockford IceHogs in 2007-08 and the Hershey Bears in 2013-14. He earned the Louis A.R. Pieri Memorial Award as the AHL's top coach during the 2006-07 season.
Haviland also spent four seasons as an assistant with the Chicago Blackhawks, contributing to their Stanley Cup win in 2010.
