Panthers and Devils complete five-player NHL trade

The Florida Panthers and New Jersey Devils have finalized a five-player deal. Jacob Markstrom heads to Florida while Ben Steeves, Evan Rodrigues and Jesper Boqvist join New Jersey.

The New Jersey Devils acquired forward Ben Steeves from the Florida Panthers in exchange for forward Angus Crookshank. The transaction also sends Evan Rodrigues and Jesper Boqvist to New Jersey and goaltender Jacob Markstrom to Florida.

Steeves, a restricted free agent, led the Charlotte Checkers with 23 goals and 45 points in 72 games during the 2025-26 AHL season. Crookshank scored a team-leading 24 goals in 60 games for the Utica Comets while adding one goal in eight NHL appearances with New Jersey.

Markstrom, a Swedish goaltender drafted by Florida in 2008, has one year remaining on his contract with the Devils. Boqvist returns to the team that originally drafted him.
