Patriarchs in Black to release covers album in 2026

NoLifeTilMetal Records has announced the upcoming release of Completely Covered in Black, a new full-length album by Patriarchs in Black, set for February 13, 2026. The album features covers of classic rock tracks from bands including Kiss, Led Zeppelin, and Black Sabbath, with guest vocals from notable musicians. Formed in late 2021 by Dan Lorenzo and Johnny Kelly, the band continues its tradition of varied lineups for each release.

Patriarchs in Black, founded at the end of 2021 by guitarist Dan Lorenzo—known from Hades and Non-Fiction—and drummer Johnny Kelly of Type O Negative, has built a discography of four original full-length albums and a six-song EP since its inception. These include Reach for the Scars (2022), My Veneration (2023), Visioning (2024), Home (2025), and the EP Covered in Black (2025). Each project has featured different singers and bassists, showcasing the band's collaborative approach.

The latest effort, Completely Covered in Black, shifts focus to interpretations of iconic songs. Spanning 11 tracks, it includes renditions of Black Sabbath's "Supertzar" and "Snowblind," Kiss's "Strange Ways," "Hotter Than Hell," and "Almost Human," Led Zeppelin's "Immigrant Song" and "The Ocean," Twisted Sister's "Destroyer," Motörhead's "The Chase," Queen's "Dragon Attack," and Peter Gabriel's "Games Without Frontiers."

Guest vocalists elevate the recordings: Mark Sunshine of Unida on the Peter Gabriel track, Karl Agell (ex-Corrosion of Conformity), Kyle Thomas (Exhorder), Rob Dukes (Exodus), and Bobby Jensen (Hairball). The vinyl edition adds an exclusive original, "Show Them Your Power," pressed on heavyweight opaque orange vinyl in a limited run of 200 copies, complete with a 12x12-inch insert of photos, liner notes, and credits. The CD version offers two bonuses: a cover of Led Zeppelin's "Kashmir" and the original "Dead and Dying," packaged in a jewel case with an eight-page booklet.

Guitarist Dan Lorenzo shared insights into the album's inspiration: “Johnny and I both love recording cover songs. If you haven’t noticed we REALLY love Kiss. As I write this, it’s only been a week since the death of Ace Frehley. Like a lot of musicians my age, I started playing guitar because of Kiss.” He recounted his early fascination with Kiss, crediting it for sparking his musical journey, and noted Kelly's suggestion for the Peter Gabriel cover, praising Sunshine's performance on “Games Without Frontiers.”

Pre-orders are available now, promising fans a blend of reverence and fresh energy from these rock veterans.
