Peter Krause has shared his perspective on the sacrificial death of his character Bobby Nash on the ABC series 9-1-1. The actor said the storyline honored first responders even though the exit was not his choice.
Bobby Nash, captain of the Los Angeles Fire Department's Station 118, died in Season 8, Episode 15 after confronting an exploding biolab that contained a deadly virus.
Krause released a statement after the episode aired. He noted that fans had a right to feel upset but described the arc as a fitting tribute.
"Bobby Nash was written in sacrifice and he was built for this," Krause wrote. "First responders risk their lives on the job so that others can see another day."
Showrunner Tim Minear said the death had always been planned for storytelling reasons. He added that the move would allow other characters, including Athena and Buck, to receive more development ahead of Season 10.
