On the morning of December 7, 2025, Daniele Guedes Antunes, a 38-year-old pharmacist, was murdered inside her home in the Jardim do Estádio neighborhood of Santo André. The crime happened around 7:30 a.m., when a neighbor passing by the street noticed Daniele's 11-year-old daughter, dressed in pajamas and covered in bloodstains, begging for help. Upon entering the house, the resident found the victim wounded with multiple knife wounds and her ex-husband, also 38, sitting beside the body.
The child confirmed to police that her father had attacked her mother. Daniele was rushed to a hospital by the Mobile Emergency Care Service (SAMU) but succumbed to her injuries. The perpetrator confessed to the femicide to the Public Security Secretariat (SSP). The knife used in the attack was seized, and forensics were called to the scene.
The case was logged as femicide at the 6th Police District of Santo André, with the suspect remaining in custody pending judicial proceedings. This incident unfolds amid rising violence against women in São Paulo, where 53 femicide cases were recorded from January to October 2025, the highest since 2015, according to the SSP. Protests against femicide drew thousands to Avenida Paulista on the same day, underscoring the need for protective measures.
