Police stop trailer with unsecured excavator on A8

Officers pulled an overloaded trailer carrying a poorly secured excavator from traffic on the A8 near Irschenberg on Friday evening.

Civil police officers stopped the 32-year-old driver from Great Britain. The trailer was secured with torn straps and was also overloaded and not approved. Several attachments lay nearly unsecured on it as well.

The type plate of the trailer had been altered, apparently to allow transport of a higher weight. The man is being investigated for document forgery among other offenses.

After depositing a security payment of several thousand euros, the driver was released. He must arrange further transport of the excavator himself while officers retained the trailer.
