Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (Dr.) engaged in multiple diplomatic activities in Addis Ababa on February 14, 2026. He began by sending a congratulatory message to Barbados Prime Minister Mia Mottley on her re-election for a third term. In the message, he stated, "Prime Minister Mia Mottley has been elected for the third time as the head of her country—congratulations." He praised the successful democratic practice of the Barbadian people and wished them success in their efforts for development, prosperity, and sustainable growth. He also expressed commitment to strengthening ties between Ethiopia and Barbados.
Additionally, he met with former South African President Thabo Mbeki to discuss Africa's development, continental integration, and regional issues. With Professor Jeffrey Sachs, the talks covered sustainable development, economic growth, and African priorities, continuing from discussions held the previous year and described as pleasant.
Abiy also held meetings with the African Development Bank President, Botswana President Duma Boko, Libyan Presidential Council Chairman Mohamed al-Menfi, and the Liberian President.
