Phil Salt scored 46 off 30 balls, Devdutt Padikkal made 50 off 29, captain Rajat Patidar hit an unbeaten 48 off 19 balls including six sixes, and Tim David remained not out on 70 off 25 balls with three fours and eight sixes. The last five overs yielded 97 runs. RCB batting coach Dinesh Karthik explained the preparation behind David's innings.
CSK managed 207 all out in 19.4 overs. Sarfaraz Khan top-scored with 50 off 25 balls, Prashant Veer added 43 off 29, and Jamie Overton made 37 off 16, but the top order collapsed. Gaikwad fell for 7.
In the post-match presentation, Gaikwad shouldered the blame: "If I would have contributed more, maybe it could have been different. It was definitely on me today." David credited Karthik, saying, "Nice to work with DK... The skipper was smoking it."
