Rögle BK has announced a long-term investment in its academy and junior operations to increase the number of homegrown players in its men's and women's teams. The decision was presented during the club's annual meeting at Catena Arena. Officials emphasized building a clearer path from youth hockey to the senior level.
At the annual meeting, Rögle BK reported a profit before tax of 9.6 million kronor and record turnover of 248 million kronor. Club director Alen Bibic said the club has reviewed its entire sports model over the past autumn and spring to strengthen its sporting identity.
Sports chief Hampus Sjöström described player development as a top priority. "It is a very burning question for us to ensure we have a succession in the house," he said in the podcast "Nedsläpp Rögle."
The club currently has five players in the women's team and three in the men's team with Rögle or another northwest Skåne club as their mother club. Rögle plans to increase these numbers by strengthening leadership around youth teams and investing further in facilities and educational environments.
Former defenseman Erlend Lesund has been appointed as the new junior manager to support the effort.
