This marks a significant improvement over the ninth season, which received 53% from critics and 35% from audiences. Reviewers describe it as a nostalgic return that blends the show's signature surreal comedy and sentimentality with contemporary issues, without attempting major changes to its formula.
The season consists of nine episodes, airing Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC, with next-day availability on Hulu. While ABC has not announced plans beyond this season, creator Bill Lawrence has expressed interest in a second season and hinted at the possible return of original cast member Ken Jenkins if renewed.
