Slight rise in ninth-graders eligible for upper secondary school in Uppsala

Preliminary results for the 2025/26 school year show that 83 percent of year 9 pupils in Uppsala municipal primary schools have the required grades to apply for upper secondary education.

The figures come from Uppsala municipality and cover only municipal schools. The share represents a small increase from the previous year.

Primary school head Erik Ojala stressed the need for continued efforts. "Our goal is that every pupil in Uppsala succeeds in school and can obtain an upper secondary education", he said.

In upper secondary schools, 95 percent of leaving students obtained their diploma. Upper secondary head Christine Kastner Johnson highlighted the quality of teaching as a contributing factor.

The results are preliminary and complete numbers are expected in autumn 2026.
