Speed reduced by 20 km/h on Île-de-France roads due to snow

Due to a snowy episode this weekend, Transport Minister Philippe Tabarot announced a speed reduction of 20 km/h on all Île-de-France roads. Delays of about one hour are expected for Roissy flights today and tomorrow. The region is under orange vigilance until Sunday morning.

A wintry climate has settled over France, with about fifty departments placed on yellow vigilance, according to Philippe Tabarot, the Transport Minister, during a press briefing on Saturday midday. Particular attention is focused on the Massif Central, Normandy, and Hauts-de-France. For Île-de-France, an orange vigilance was triggered from 8 PM this Saturday until 8 AM Sunday, November 23, according to La Chaîne Météo.

The minister had warned that the weekend would be «quite complicated,» and circulation difficulties are already noted today. Regarding roads, used daily by 14 million Île-de-France residents, the Paris police prefect has decided, in coordination with relevant services, to reduce the authorized speed by 20 km/h across the entire region. Additionally, overtaking is banned for heavy trucks over 3.5 tonnes. Tabarot urges drivers to postpone non-essential trips and equip their vehicles accordingly.

The Paris police prefecture recommends checking the Bison Futé website for national traffic and Sytadin for Île-de-France. Trains are «not particularly impacted,» as are urban and interurban networks managed by RATP, which are operating normally so far. Any disruptions would be reported immediately.

At Île-de-France airports – Beauvais, Orly, and Roissy – vigilance is heightened due to visibility issues. Delays of about one hour are expected on all Roissy flights today and tomorrow, the minister specified.
