Survey shows 43 percent of Argentines suffered digital fraud or hack

A recent survey indicates that 43 percent of internet users in Argentina experienced some type of digital fraud or hack in 2025 and the first months of 2026.

The survey conducted by CertiSur and D'Alessio IROL polled 500 users over 21 years old across the country. The figure marks an increase from the 33 percent recorded in 2025 and the 9 percent from four years ago.

Phishing via WhatsApp accounted for 31 percent of cases, followed by email at 23 percent and phone calls at 20 percent. The Specialized Fiscal Unit for Cybercrime received 34,468 reports in 2024.

Only 40 percent of respondents believe companies adequately protect their data, a drop from 83 percent the previous year. The main effects reported are feelings of vulnerability and helplessness.
