Transporters and farmers announce national strike for November 24

The National Association of Cargo Transporters (ANTAC) announced a new national strike alongside farmers for November 24. The announcement took place in front of the National Palace, where hundreds of protesters demanded greater road safety and fair prices for their products. At least 25 states will join the protest to pressure the federal government.

In front of the National Palace in Mexico City, members of the National Association of Cargo Transporters (ANTAC), along with the National Front for the Rescue of the Mexican Countryside (FNRCM) and the Agricultural Peasant Movement (MAC), called for a national strike scheduled for November 24. Hundreds of peasants and transporters from various states gathered to demand better working conditions, fair prices for crops, and urgent road safety measures.

In their message, the transporters stated they will block traffic for cargo vehicles while allowing access for public and private transport. Specific roads have not been detailed yet, but at least 25 federal entities will participate to heighten pressure on the federal government.

Key demands include enhanced road security to prevent crimes on highway sections and the closure of irregular access points. Farmers are seeking fair guarantee prices, financial support amid high operational and production costs, the removal of basic grains from the USMCA (T-MEC), and involvement in the new national water law. They also request direct dialogue with authorities and measures to avoid impacting third parties, such as travelers or those with urgent needs.
