US Congressman blames Fulani militants for attacks on Christians in Nigeria

US Congressman Rep. Riley Moore stated that Fulani militants are the largest perpetrators of violence against Christians in Nigeria. He urged renewed US action to stop the killings in the Middle Belt.

US Congressman Rep. Riley Moore made the remarks in a post on X on Wednesday. He noted that he has been investigating the alleged genocide against Christians in Nigeria.

“As I have been saying since I started investigating the genocide against Christians in Nigeria, Fulani militants are by far the largest perpetrators of violence against Christians in Nigeria,” Moore wrote.

Moore acknowledged progress by the Trump Administration against Boko Haram and ISWAP in the North East. He added that action is also needed against Fulani militants in the Middle Belt to protect Christians.

The federal government maintains that violence in the region stems from criminality, banditry, and resource conflicts rather than religious persecution. It has denied claims of genocide.
