Will Hunt to play with Evanescence on 2026 tour, not Godsmack

Drummer Will Hunt has confirmed he will perform with Evanescence on their 2026 tour instead of rejoining Godsmack, due to overlapping schedules. This follows his temporary stint with Godsmack on their 2025 European tour after the band lost key members. Hunt expressed fondness for both groups but prioritized his ongoing role with Evanescence.

Will Hunt, who serves as the drummer for Evanescence, recently addressed his touring commitments in an interview with Mark Strigl. He explained that his participation in Godsmack's spring 2025 European tour was a short-term arrangement to help complete already scheduled dates following the band's internal changes.

In April 2025, Godsmack announced the departures of guitarist Tony Rombola and longtime drummer Shannon Larkin. Hunt described the situation as emotionally challenging for frontman Sully Erna, drawing parallels to Evanescence's own past lineup shifts involving singer Amy Lee. "I think that for them being together as long as they were together, it was very emotional for them. And [Sully was] kind of, like, ‘Now what?’ Same as Amy [Lee when the original Evanescence lineup fell apart]: ‘Do I even wanna keep doing this?’" Hunt said.

Hunt noted that Erna, a dedicated performer like himself, intends to continue. However, after finishing the European tour, Hunt reaffirmed his commitment to Evanescence, stating he has no plans to leave the band. Regarding potential future involvement with Godsmack on their 2026 “The Rise Of Rock” world tour, Hunt highlighted scheduling conflicts: "But you can look and see that the Evanescence schedules and the Godsmack schedules completely overlap."

Despite his enjoyment of the Godsmack experience—calling it an honor and a challenging yet fun gig—Hunt concluded that logistics prevent him from participating further this year. He jokingly remarked that having two of himself would allow constant work, but reality dictates otherwise.

Evanescence's upcoming tour dates begin on June 11, 2026, in West Palm Beach, Florida, and span multiple U.S. cities, Canada, and Europe through October 2026. Support acts include Spiritbox and Nova Twins for initial legs, with Poppy and K.Flay joining later portions.
