Willem Greve claims third win of the season in Gothenburg

Dutch rider Willem Greve secured his third victory of the 2025/2026 Longines FEI Jumping World Cup Western European League season, riding Grandorado TN N.O.P. to win in Gothenburg, Sweden. Kim Emmen finished second for a Dutch one-two, with Sweden's Malin Baryard-Johnsson in third. The win propelled Greve to the top of the standings and confirmed his spot at the final.

The 12th leg of the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ 2025/2026 Western European League took place on Sunday in Gothenburg, Sweden, at the Scandinavium arena. Thirty-six riders competed over a technical course designed by Peter Schumacher, featuring 16 jumping efforts and a time limit of 73 seconds in the first round. Only eight achieved clear rounds to advance to the jump-off.

In the jump-off, Kim Emmen set the pace with a clear round in 42.65 seconds aboard Imagine N.O.P. Willem Greve, riding the 15-year-old stallion Grandorado TN N.O.P., edged her out with a time of 42.19 seconds, sparking a loud roar from the crowd. Malin Baryard-Johnsson claimed third place on H&M Indiana, delighting the home audience.

Greve, who previously won in Stuttgart and La Coruña with Pretty Woman Van’t Paradijs N.O.P., dedicated the victory to his horse. “I’m over the moon for my horse,” he said. “Grandorado has been a great horse for many years, and he deserves to have this win. This one is for him. I’m really happy for him that he has such a big victory behind his name.”

The electric atmosphere in the historic Scandinavium, built atop an ice rink, added to the excitement. Greve noted, “The Swedish public are horse people, and it gives you a little bit extra in the ring. The thing is with this show, it is a classic show, with crowds that are here for the love of the horses. I think that is what makes the show so special.”

The win earned Greve 20 points, bringing his total to 81 and securing first place in the standings ahead of the final in Fort Worth, USA, in April. Julien Épaillard of France holds second with 69 points, followed by Germany's Daniel Deusser with 66. Greve is undecided on his horse for the final, considering both Grandorado and Pretty Woman. The next leg is in Helsinki, Finland.
