Zverev reveals annual grass allergy ahead of Wimbledon

World No. 3 Alexander Zverev has disclosed a longstanding lawn allergy that troubles him each year on grass courts. The revelation comes as he prepares for Wimbledon following his French Open triumph.

Zverev confirmed the issue in comments to BILD, stating he is doing great and that the allergy is nothing new. He has managed Type 1 diabetes alongside past injuries, including ankle ligament damage and a recent back problem.

His grass-court record remains challenging. The German has yet to win a title on the surface and holds a 16-9 mark at Wimbledon, with a fourth-round best. He lost his first-round match there last year to Arthur Rinderknech.

Zverev opens against Alexander Blockx on Tuesday after straight-sets wins over the Belgian in Madrid and Rome. Former player Patrick McEnroe rated Taylor Fritz and Ben Shelton ahead of Zverev as title contenders, naming Jannik Sinner the favorite.
