Chilean rowers Antonia and Melita Abraham secured the bronze medal in the women's pair event at the first stop of the Rowing World Cup in Seville, Spain. The twins finished with a time of 7 minutes, 12 seconds and 64 hundredths, behind the French and Czech pairs.
The Abraham twins reached the final after winning their heat on Friday and repeating the feat in Saturday's semifinals. On Sunday they secured third place in the international competition.
Antonia Abraham said their goal was to reach final A and fight for a medal. “We always aim to be in final A, which are the six best in the competition”, she stated.
Melita Abraham highlighted the training carried out in Chile and Europe. The bronze opens expectations for the next World Cup dates, scheduled in Bulgaria and Switzerland in June.
