Funding has been approved to replace 18,000 seats at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh. The upgrades follow recent work on the playing surface and form part of a larger plan to modernize the venue.
The Pittsburgh Sports Exhibition Authority approved the funding for new seats in the lower level of the east side. Of those seats, 85 percent will be yellow and 15 percent gray, each with stainless steel anchors.
The project comes after more than 22,000 seats were approved for replacement last October. The long-term goal is to replace more than 58,000 of the stadium’s over 68,000 seats. The current seats are original to the building, which opened in 2001, and many were found to be in disrepair.
Earlier this offseason, a new playing surface was installed at the stadium. Additional improvements in recent years include 69 unit heaters funded in early 2026, Wi-Fi upgrades and bollards added in 2025, and over $1 million spent on restroom renovations previously.
