Addis Ababa to host World Athletics Continental Tour Grand Prix

Following the announcement of hosting the World Athletics Relays on May 18, 2026, Addis Ababa has been selected as a host city with elite status for the World Athletics Continental Tour. This provides Ethiopia another first in hosting world-class athletics events, with the Addis Ababa Grand Prix scheduled for approximately April 17, 2026 (Miazia 10, 2018 EC).

The Ethiopian Athletics Federation confirmed World Athletics' selection of Addis Ababa for its Continental Tour, a series of international meets including locations in Ethiopia, Egypt, South Korea, Lesotho, Oman, and Saudi Arabia.

This elite-level event represents a historic milestone for Ethiopian athletics, building on recent successes like the Relays.
