The individual is linked to crimes in 2023 and 2025, as well as drug trafficking and illegal firearms possession. Authorities highlighted the arrest's impact on local security.

The arrest of alias ‘Upa’ took place in the Alfonso López neighborhood of Neiva, Huila's rice capital, during a joint operation by police and the Attorney General's Office. Authorities executed a judicial order for homicide after gathering evidence against him.

The detainee is the alleged perpetrator of the homicide of Luis Fernando Bermeo González, which occurred on October 27, 2025, in a commercial establishment in La Caraguaja, Campoalegre. He is also linked to the death of a woman on October 24, 2023, in the Ferro neighborhood of the same town.
