Armia scores twice in Kings' 4-2 win over Mammoth

Joel Armia scored twice to lead the Los Angeles Kings to a 4-2 victory against the Utah Mammoth on December 8, 2025, at Delta Center. Adrian Kempe and Anze Kopitar also found the net for the Kings, who built on a strong performance from their previous game. The Mammoth suffered their sixth loss in eight outings.

The Los Angeles Kings defeated the Utah Mammoth 4-2 in an NHL game on Monday night at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City.

First Period

Adrian Kempe gave the Kings a 1-0 lead at 7:50, taking a pass from Kevin Fiala on a 3-on-2 rush and tucking a backhand past Karel Vejmelka. Joel Armia extended the advantage to 2-0 at 10:08, converting a breakaway assisted by Fiala blocker side. Brandon Tanev appeared to cut the deficit to 2-1 at 11:08 on his own breakaway, but the goal was disallowed after a successful offside challenge by the Kings.

Second Period

Dylan Guenther pulled the Mammoth within one at 0:34 of the second period with a power-play goal, beating Darcy Kuemper glove side with a one-timer from above the circles.

Third Period

Anze Kopitar restored the two-goal lead at 3:27, lifting a shot past Vejmelka's glove after a puck bounced in the slot. Clayton Keller narrowed the gap to 3-2 at 12:15, roofing a backhand over Kuemper's blocker from the right circle. Armia sealed the victory with an empty-net goal at 18:22.

Kuemper made 19 saves for the Kings, who improved to 14-8-7 following a 6-0 win over the Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday. Vejmelka stopped 23 shots for the Mammoth, now 14-14-3 after losing two straight.

"I think after that game on Saturday you come in here and feel good about your game," Kempe said. "We kind of kept it going in the first period."

Utah coach Andre Tourigny noted, "I liked the way we played in the second and the third periods... But unfortunately, when you have that kind of a start, it's a one-goal game all the time."

Kings coach Jim Hiller added, "I thought we gathered ourselves in the third despite them pushing a little bit at the end. I liked how we played our third period."

Kempe has six points in his past five games, while Keller has seven in his last five.
