Bahlil assures no subsidized fuel and LPG price hikes

Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia affirmed that the government will not raise prices of subsidized fuel oil (BBM) and LPG amid the Middle East geopolitical crisis. The statement came after opening the XI Regional Conference of Golkar Party in North Sulawesi in Manado on April 11, 2026. National stocks of BBM and LPG are secure for days ahead.

Energy Minister Bahlil Lahadalia stated the government is working to keep subsidized BBM and LPG prices stable. "The government is striving to ensure that subsidized BBM and LPG prices in Indonesia do not rise, and we are continuously seeking solutions," he said after the event in Manado.

Following President Prabowo Subianto's directive, Indonesia aims for energy and food self-sufficiency. Bahlil noted efforts to reduce BBM and LPG imports by leveraging domestic natural resources. "We will empower the natural resources we have, so energy self-sufficiency can be achieved," he added.

National BBM stocks suffice for 20 days ahead, while LPG for 10 days. Daily BBM needs stand at 1.5-1.6 million barrels, with domestic production at 600,000 barrels per day. Over 59 percent of needs are met by imports, mainly from Singapore and Malaysia.

The government commits to not raising subsidized BBM and 3 kg LPG prices to maintain economic stability.
