Bayern women overturn deficit against Arsenal

FC Bayern München's women delivered a stunning comeback in the Women's Champions League against Arsenal. In front of 15,407 spectators at the Allianz Arena, the German champions won 3:2 after trailing. This victory extends their winning streak.

The match at the Allianz Arena started poorly for FC Bayern München. Arsenal, the defending champions, led early with goals from Emily Fox in the 5th minute and Mariona in the 23rd. The Munich women appeared unsettled and struggled to escape their own penalty area. Goalkeeper Maria Luisa Grohs failed to hold a shot from Fox, leading to the 0:1. Arsenal had further chances before halftime but failed to convert them.

After the break, the dynamic shifted. Coach José Barcala injected fresh energy with substitutions. In the 67th minute, substitute Alara converted a pass from Klara Bühl to make it 1:2. Pernille Harder, also coming off the bench, equalized in the 80th minute with a long-range strike. Captain Glódís Viggósdóttir scored the winner in the 86th minute, heading in a cross from Bühl past Arsenal keeper Daphne van Domselaar.

Midfielder Georgia Stanway praised the team: "We showed huge character." With their second win in three group games, Bayern keeps their shot at direct qualification for the quarterfinals. Arsenal remains on three points. The Munich side celebrates their seventh consecutive competitive victory.
