To commemorate the centenary of Antoni Gaudí's death in 1926, BD Barcelona has reissued a collection of his original furniture designs in collaboration with Monde Singulier. The exclusive showcase took place in Paris from February 19 to 21, 2026, featuring handcrafted oak pieces from Casa Calvet and Casa Batlló. This event highlights Gaudí's philosophy of furniture as an extension of architecture.
The exhibition, held at Monde Singulier's space on Rue Danielle Casanova in Paris's 2nd arrondissement, presented a selection of Gaudí's furniture reissued by BD Barcelona, the official editor of his designs since 1975. Each piece is handcrafted in solid oak by master artisans, numbered, signed, and certified by the Real Cátedra Gaudí as an exact reproduction of the originals.
The collection includes items such as the Calvet Armchair, Batlló Bench, and Calvet Stool, originally conceived for Gaudí's iconic buildings, Casa Calvet and Casa Batlló. These designs emphasize organic forms, with twisted wooden legs, curved backrests that follow the spine, and surfaces that reflect light to highlight the wood's grain and contours.
BD Barcelona's Max D’Huart stated, “Gaudí did not design furniture as objects, but as living extensions of architecture and the body.” He added, “For the centenary, our responsibility is not only to preserve these works, but to share the craftsmanship and human knowledge that continue to bring them to life. Through collaborations such as Monde Singulier, we aim to make that living legacy visible.”
This Paris presentation is part of BD Barcelona's year-long program of international initiatives for the Gaudí Centenary in 2026. The installation echoed the original spatial relationships in Gaudí's interiors, positioning the furniture in dialogue with the gallery setting rather than as standalone collectibles. The event underscores the ongoing transmission of Gaudí's late 19th-century techniques into contemporary craftsmanship.
