Blackhawks recall Oliver Moore from IceHogs

The Chicago Blackhawks have recalled forward Oliver Moore from the Rockford IceHogs ahead of their game against the Seattle Kraken. The 20-year-old rookie leads AHL rookies with six goals in nine games this season. The move comes as forward Jason Dickinson was placed on injured reserve.

On November 3, 2025, the Chicago Blackhawks announced the recall of forward Oliver Moore from their AHL affiliate, the Rockford IceHogs. Moore, a 2023 first-round pick, has impressed in the minors with nine points (six goals, three assists) over nine games, leading all American Hockey League rookies in goals and ranking fourth in points among rookies. He also led the IceHogs in goals and was third on the team in scoring. The IceHogs hold a 6-4 record, placing second in the Central Division.

Moore's performance follows a strong training camp where he made a case for the opening roster, but the Blackhawks opted for further development in Rockford. Highlights include two two-goal games, showcasing his speed and skill. Blackhawks head coach Jeff Blashill praised the prospects' starts on October 31, saying, “I know they got a good team. I know some of our young prospects have done a really good job. I know Oliver Moore’s had a good start. I know Nick Lardis has had a good start. I think our young defensemen are all playing well, so it’s good. It’s great to see those guys playing well…”

The recall fills a gap created by placing Jason Dickinson on injured reserve retroactive to October 30 due to a lingering injury. Moore is expected to debut against the Seattle Kraken on November 3 at Climate Pledge Arena, with puck drop at 9:00 p.m. CT, broadcast on CHSN and WGN Radio. After losing their first two games of a six-game road trip, the Blackhawks seek their first win, and Moore could contribute on the penalty kill.

Reflecting on his AHL success after a two-goal game on October 14, Moore said, “I think, obviously, scoring the first pro goal is definitely a little weight off the shoulder, for sure. Played nine games last year, too, and just getting that first one feels good. But I think the goals and everything kind of comes when I’m playing my game, playing the right way, playing to help the team win.” He emphasized a team-first approach: “For me, it’s just using, like I said, my speed all over the ice, but trying to make players around me better. Trying to give as much time and space, make little plays with the puck, without the puck, to my teammates. And yeah, I think just playing a team game- team-first game as a guy can only help the team.”

Moore brings NHL experience, having played nine games with Chicago last season and recording four points.
