CD Projekt Red rules out secret DLC for Cyberpunk 2077

CD Projekt Red has stated there are no plans for additional DLC or expansions for Cyberpunk 2077. The announcement comes amid rumours of new content for The Witcher 3. Fans hoping for surprise updates will need to look to the upcoming sequel instead.

Rumours of new DLC for The Witcher 3, potentially releasing 11 years after its initial launch, have sparked speculation across CD Projekt Red's portfolio. In response to a fan query on social media about "secret new DLC" for Cyberpunk 2077, the Polish studio clarified its position.

"We have no plans for additional DLCs or expansions," the developer stated. "If anything changes, we will inform you all!"

This update aligns with the studio's focus on Cyberpunk 2, which remains in pre-production. The original Cyberpunk 2077, released in 2020, faced significant controversy at launch but has since received updates, including the Phantom Liberty expansion. Creator Mike Pondsmith has expressed interest in bringing back Keanu Reeves as Johnny Silverhand, noting he has "ways" to incorporate the character.

Pondsmith also revealed that the sequel will introduce a second city, described as "Chicago gone wrong," with subtle references appearing at the end of the Phantom Liberty DLC. These details suggest a broader scope for the franchise, though no release date has been announced.

Meanwhile, CD Projekt Red has bolstered its team, with a cinematic animator from Sandfall Interactive, developers of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, joining the studio. For now, the emphasis is on future projects rather than revisiting the 2020 RPG with unannounced content.
