Chennai police arrest four in businessman abduction

Three masked men forced him into a car, assaulted him and demanded the ransom before releasing him after taking his mobile phone and a five-sovereign gold chain.

Police formed a special team after Abraham lodged a complaint with the Kilpauk police station. The suspects later contacted him to collect the money near a tea stall on Broadway, where officers arrested them in a trap.

The arrested men have been identified as Jai Saravanan, 20, Jayakumar, 33, Ramkumar, 23, and Ponnivalavan, 25. Police recovered the gold chain and seized the rented car along with three knives. The suspects were produced before a magistrate and remanded to judicial custody.
