Christopher Nolan has revealed that it will be at least three years before he directs another movie after completing The Odyssey. The filmmaker cited the intense demands of the production as the reason for the extended break.
Nolan made the comments in an interview with Today. He said the project pushed him and his team to their limits.
“I definitely hit the limits of my own stamina and everybody’s stamina, I think,” Nolan said. “I mean, it’s The Odyssey, of course it should be difficult. We’re not doing the job right making a film of The Odyssey if it doesn’t seem difficult.”
The director also noted that he shot the entire film using IMAX cameras. Nolan had told the IMAX team that the project presented the right opportunity to fulfill that long-held goal.
The Odyssey, which stars Matt Damon as Odysseus, opened in theaters on July 17 and has posted strong box office results.
