Computer Worlds showcase spotlights 15 upcoming indie games

A new indie game showcase called Computer Worlds, organized by independent developers and Noclip's secondary channel, premiered with trailers for 15 upcoming titles and a montage of 16 released games. Many of the featured games offer demos on Steam as part of an ongoing event. The event aims to highlight distinctive indie works amid industry challenges.

The games industry faces significant hurdles, including mass layoffs at major studios and funding difficulties for small teams due to risk aversion. In this context, Computer Worlds emerged as a platform to celebrate "the beautiful, the strange, and the distinctive" in gaming.

Hosted on Thursday and organized in collaboration with Noclip 2, the YouTube channel focused on indie coverage, the premiere featured trailers for 15 new and upcoming games. A montage showcased 16 additional released titles, several of which are discounted in a Steam event.

Gil Lawson, the game's developer and creator of Computer Worlds, explained the initiative's purpose: "These games are in an odd position right now. On the one hand, they might be the healthiest little corner of the medium, a space where passionate developers are making interesting work sustainably for enthusiastic, supportive audiences. On the other hand, these games are ill-suited to the machinery of the modern internet…Computer Worlds is our attempt to do something about this."

Among the highlighted upcoming games with demos available on Steam are Ultimate Drummer, an action-platformer where players control a drummer seeking music gods; Queen’s Domain, an action RPG involving a search for a missing father on a fantastical isle; and Metamorphosis, a 2D action-exploration title following a nun's quest for absolution. Other titles include GoblinAmerica, a surreal 3D movement shooter; Brush Burial: Bruiseland, the third in its immersive sim series; All Living Things, a clay stop-motion puzzle game; Loading…, an RPG exploring grief and coming of age; 500 Caliber Contractz, a Y2K-style 3D platformer; Erulean Angel: Fantasy Commander, a strategic autobattler; Titanium Court, a narrative puzzle game; and Vholume, a parkour adventure in a brutalist city.

Released games in the montage, such as Fragrance Point and Mouthwashing, are on sale, alongside upcoming ones like Soul Injector Commando, an anti-capitalist shooter, and World of Dogs, a fast-paced FPS. Dread Delusion, an open-world RPG, is set for release on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Switch 2 on March 17. Hyperbeat, a rhythm game, is already available.

All featured games can be found on the Computer Worlds Steam event page.
