Disney World renames docking bay at Galactic Starcruiser site

Disney World has renamed the former Docking Bay 3 to Docking Bay 6 in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. This change coincides with the conversion of the nearby Galactic Starcruiser building into office space for Walt Disney Imagineering.

The Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, an immersive two-night experience aboard the Halcyon, operated for just over a year before closing in September 2023. Guests would travel from the Halcyon to Batuu, arriving at a cave-like entryway in Galaxy’s Edge known as Docking Bay 3. Recent reports from Blog Mickey indicate updated signage now identifies this location as Docking Bay 6, marking a shift from the defunct hotel storyline. The area itself remains largely unchanged physically. Meanwhile, the Halcyon structure is undergoing transformation. Disney confirmed in 2025 that it will become office space for Walt Disney Imagineering, the division that developed the original experience. Aerial photos from last year showed construction vehicles and equipment at the site, indicating ongoing work ahead of its reopening as a workspace. Online discussions have noted the building’s exterior as appearing stark or prison-like. Beyond the parks, the Halcyon persists in Star Wars canon, featuring briefly in the trailer for 2026’s The Mandalorian and Grogu with the slogan “Halcyon, See the Galaxy.” Separately, C & S Themed Interiors offers home replicas of the hotel’s cabins, including themed lighting and intercom systems.
