Doechii wraps 'Swamp Sessions' series with SZA on 'Girl, Get Up'

Doechii has released 'Girl, Get Up' featuring SZA as the finale to her 'Swamp Sessions' series, where she created tracks in under an hour. Produced by Jay Versace with a sample from Birdman and Clipse's 'What Happened to That Boy,' the empowering anthem arrives amid her prolific 2025, following hits like Grammy-nominated 'Anxiety' and her debut album *Alligator Bites Never Heal*.

'Girl, Get Up' layers a punchy drum sample from Birdman and Clipse's 2002 track 'What Happened to That Boy' with atmospheric synths, courtesy of producer Jay Versace. Building on the song's themes of confronting hate and misogyny—as seen in its responses to industry plant rumors—the track features Doechii's reflective bars: “For now, let’s sink into the fact that hate don’t make you powerful/Y’all monitoring spirits, go monitor that checkbook/Fashion week was radical, diamonds what my neck took/Tried to turn the other cheek, but y’all just too damn extra.” SZA delivers the catchy hook: “I be in the back levitating, doing meditation, hear me girl, get up/Taking on all confrontation, fuck a limitation, hear me girl, get up/Somehow I know that I’ll have everything, it’s mine, mine, mine.”

This marks the conclusion of Doechii's 'Swamp Sessions,' a creative challenge yielding previous entries like 'Nissan Altima,' 'Bullfrog,' and 'Catfish.' It's the second Doechii-SZA collaboration after SZA's feature on the 2022 'Persuasive' remix.

Doechii's momentum continues from her Grammy-winning 2024 album Alligator Bites Never Heal (with five 2026 Grammy nods for the TikTok-viral 'Anxiety' reissue), plus recent solo 'Nosebleeds' and features on 'ExtraL' (with Jennie), 'Beat a Bitch Up' (with Alameda), and the Weeknd/Playboi Carti 'Timeless' remix. 'Girl, Get Up' solidifies her hip-hop ascent.
