Emil Andrae signs two-year contract with Toronto Maple Leafs

Swedish defenceman Emil Andrae has agreed to a two-year deal with the Toronto Maple Leafs after being traded from the Philadelphia Flyers earlier this summer.

The 24-year-old from Västervik signed the contract, which is valued at 3.1 million dollars with an annual cap hit of 1.55 million dollars.

Andrae was acquired by Toronto in a trade that sent goaltender Joseph Woll and defenceman Simon Benoit to Philadelphia in exchange for Samuel Ersson, Andrae and a third-round draft pick.

Last season he appeared in 61 regular-season games for the Flyers, recording two goals and 11 assists, and played four postseason contests. He has now appeared in 107 NHL games overall.

The Maple Leafs announced the signing with the statement: “We’ve signed defenceman Emil Andrae to a two-year contract.”
