Equality agency to investigate manosphere impact on young men

The Equality Agency has been tasked with examining whether boys and young men are negatively affected by images of masculinity in social media and other online forums.

Equality Minister Nina Larsson (L) believes young men risk exposure to destructive values and polarizing notions about women in the so-called manosphere.

– Boys can encounter content that glorifies suicide, mocks mental illness and creates an almost obsessive fixation on appearance, muscles and status, she told TT.

The investigation will also examine video games and other online forums. It will map effects on mental health, views on equality and risk of violence.
