A couple went to a supposed job interview in rural Palermo, Huila, falling victim to a scam simulating an express kidnapping. Relatives received extortion calls, but authorities quickly located the victims safe after three hours. No kidnapping complaint was filed.
The couple traveled by motorcycle to a rural area in Palermo, Huila's marble capital, drawn by a fake job offer. Upon arriving at the meeting point, they lost contact with family due to poor signal, raising alarms. Soon, a relative got WhatsApp calls and messages from someone identifying as alias Julián Martínez, alleged leader of the Farc dissident Frente 7, claiming they were held in a camp.
