Fake plumber calls actual plumber in scam

Scammers called Thomas Jansson in Lindesberg offering to clean his drains, unaware he is an experienced plumber himself. Jansson, with 25 years in the trade, was not fooled by the attempt. Nerikes Allehanda has previously reported on similar scam efforts.

In Lindesberg, Thomas Jansson on Strandvägen received an unexpected call from someone pretending to be from a plumbing company. The caller offered to visit his home and flush the drains to prevent future blockages. What the scammers did not know was that Jansson himself has worked as a plumber for 25 years and immediately saw through the ruse.

The article in Nerikes Allehanda, written by Åsa Eriksson, highlights how such scam attempts are active again. The newspaper has written multiple times before about similar incidents where callers claim to be from a plumbing firm and try to gain entry to homes to perform unnecessary work or charge for nothing. Jansson's experience meant he did not fall for it, but the case reminds of the risks to elderly or unaware individuals in society.

No details on the scammers' exact identity or method are given in the report, but it underscores the importance of vigilance against unsolicited calls from unknown companies.
