Fans launch petitions for canceled wolf character in Love and Deepspace

Over 310,000 signatures have been collected in petitions calling for the return of Valko, a werewolf character briefly announced for the mobile game Love and Deepspace before being canceled by developer Papergames.

Valko, described as a tech CEO werewolf, was announced toward the end of June for the popular gacha romance title, which has surpassed 80 million downloads. The addition was quickly canceled after mixed online reactions, with some players objecting to the focus shifting from existing characters and others accusing the China-based studio of appealing to Western audiences.

Following the cancellation, support for Valko grew rapidly. Two major petitions, one on Change.org with more than 91,000 signatures, have together exceeded 310,000 names in roughly four days.

Papergames has removed planned Valko interactive sessions from the Anime Expo event scheduled for this weekend. The petitions continue to rank among the most active on their platforms.
