First funeral held for Hanwha Aerospace factory blast victim

The first funeral for one of five people killed in a deadly factory explosion at Hanwha Aerospace was held in Daejeon on Saturday.

The service took place at a funeral parlor in the central city of Daejeon, about 140 kilometers southeast of Seoul. It was attended by the victim's bereaved family, relatives and company executives. A blast at the Hanwha Aerospace facility on Monday killed five people and injured two others. Company officials said the workers were cleaning propellant powder residue from tools used in the production of propulsion systems at the time. This week's explosion marked the latest fatal incident at the factory. An explosion in 2018 claimed five lives, and another in 2019 left three people killed.
