First look at Jumanji 3 revealed as filming begins

Sony Pictures has unveiled the first official image from the upcoming Jumanji 3, featuring stars Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan, and Jack Black back in their roles. The reveal coincides with filming starting this November, ahead of a December 2026 release. Dwayne Johnson also paid tribute to the late Robin Williams in honor of the franchise's legacy.

First Look and Cast Reunion

The new still shows Johnson as Dr. Smolder Bravestone, Hart as Franklin 'Mouse' Finbar, Gillan as Ruby Roundhouse, and Black as Professor Shelly Oberon, standing together on a city street. Sony shared the image on X with the caption: "Look who’s on the loose #JumanjiMovie is coming exclusively to theatres Christmas 2026." This marks the return of the ensemble six years after Jumanji: The Next Level in 2019.

Dwayne Johnson recently confirmed to Variety that production is underway this November, stating, "The films that I made in the past, I love them. I'll go back to making them again." The actor also honored Robin Williams, who originated the role of Alan Parrish in the 1995 original Jumanji, emphasizing the sequel's connection to the franchise's roots.

Production Details

Director Jake Kasdan is returning to helm the project, co-writing the screenplay with Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg. Producer Hiram Garcia noted in 2021 that the team had a "big vision" for the third installment, planning it to follow the 2024 release of Red One. Kevin Hart suggested in a 2023 Variety interview that this could be the final entry for his and Johnson's duo, saying, "We need something big to put our duo to an end, and not just leave it undone."

Filming on the long-delayed sequel began after years of development, with the movie set for theaters on December 11, 2026.
