Fondo Nacional de Garantías reports 50% drop in microentrepreneurs risk profile

The Fondo Nacional de Garantías announced that the risk profile of microentrepreneurs fell by more than 50% since 2023. The entity attributed the result to products with coverage of up to 90% and lower commissions.

Andrés Hernández, vice president of Risks at the FNG, explained that the strategy aimed to help microentrepreneurs gradually access larger loans and better conditions.

The microcredit segment reached its highest expected loss level in 2023. A sustained reduction in that gap began in 2024 and continued through 2025.

The microcredit portfolio grew more than 11% by the end of 2025. The FNG expanded its network of partners to include cooperatives, fintechs and compensation funds.
